Unity editor tools
Careful editor tools for Unity.
Steadyhand Tools builds small Unity editor extensions that each fix one real problem, and fix it safely: you review the repair before anything is written, and every file is backed up first.
- Preview firstSee the repair before a file changes
- Backed upEvery file is copied before it is written
- Editor onlyNothing goes into your builds
Serialization Rescue
Coming soon to the Unity Asset Store and itch.io.
Rename a class, move it to another namespace or assembly, or lose a script’s .meta
file, and Unity stops loading the data saved with it. You see “Unknown managed type” errors, empty fields and
“The associated script can not be loaded”. The values are still in your files. Serialization Rescue finds that
data across your project, suggests the class it belongs to now, and re-links it without losing a value.
-
Finds what broke
[SerializeReference]objects whose class is missing, also inside prefab overrides and generic arguments, and components or ScriptableObjects whose script is missing. -
Suggests the class
Ranked by class name (moved or renamed) and by the saved field names. In the full edition a clear winner is preselected; ties are left to you.
-
Repairs safely
A preview of the repair first, a backup of every file, version-control checkout and a rescan afterwards. Unsaved work stops the repair instead of being saved for you.
-
Catches it in CI
A batch-mode check fails the build when missing types or scripts appear, with a text report for the logs.
